Brilliant skies, glittering ice – a polar bear and her cub pad through an endless icy wilderness. These are captivating TV images that may soon be consigned to history. Global warming is melting the ice and raising sea levels. The problem lies with increasing CO2 emissions throughout the world. Efficient lighting can save a large amount of energy. If only 30% of the potential for energy-saving lighting systems were used almost one fifth of the worldwide demand for electricity for lighting could be saved – and 260 million tonnes less CO2 would be released into the atmosphere.

Doing nothing is jeopardizing our world – let us act together.
